On a grassy hillside, two different-hued elephants were photographed in the midst of a colorful battle.
Sergey Savvi, a 38-year-old wildlife photographer from Saint Petersburg, Russia, documented the animals’ fight when he visited the Samburu National Reserve in Kenya.
According to Sergey, one of the elephants was a different color due to having bathed in red clay – were fighting over dominance, females, or territory.
“Bulls frequently evaluate one another’s talents via sparring or playful fighting. Most likely, these two bulls came from different herds.
“It was obvious they had spent the day in several locations, as they were dressed in various colors.”
The dark red elephant had been washed in a bath of red clay — elephants do this to protect their skin against the sun, insects, and parasites.
It was a fascinating moment to capture.
