It’s worth noting that if you get a cup of coffee or tea, it’s sometimes better to drink it slowly in small sips. It’s difficult enough to save water while trying not to make a large mess at home, but rushing to grab a quick drink may leave you stuck in the mud, as these baby elephants discovered.

As a result of the heat, the hardy trio was eager to be the first to reach the water hole at the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa, where they sought to cool off amid the oppressive weather.

However, in their hurry, they become caught in some thick muck, which just adds to the difficulty of their trip.

The entire event was recorded on video by Kristoff Potgieter, 28, who subsequently named the elephants Hughey, Dewey, and Louis after the characters from the Disney-era animated TV series “Duck Tales.”

“These three baby elephants could not wait to get to the waterhole first after a long, hot day in the Madikwe Game Reserve,” he added.

“They were in such a hurry that they got themselves mired in the mud.

“The tiniest one then leaps into the waterhole, getting stuck a second time. This video was too adorable to keep to oneself!”

It was an exciting day for the three contestants, with many guests from the Etali Safari Lodge where he works witnessing the fiercely-contested race. He hoped it would provide a memory that they would treasure forever.

“I’ve never gotten tired of watching adorable baby elephants,” he continued. “For our tourists, it was one of the most amazing sightings among many unforgettable things they encountered during their trip.”
