This little lion cub found a brilliant disguise in the tail of an older lion.
The youngster can be observed holding his elders’ tail up to his face to form the perfect mustache disguise to conceal himself from the others.
And the tail makes a great toy as well as a disguise!
Grant Atkinson captured this Charlie Chaplin-esque look in the Olare Orok Conservancy in Kenya.
Grant, 49, says: “The lion cub was part a bigger pride, but the rest of the pride were resting.”
“The younger ones were active and eager to play or be entertained.”
“This cub had been the most playful among the group, and after being ignored by all the pride females, he wandered over to one of the males.”
“The male lions were flicking their tails repeatedly to avoid annoying flies.”
“The cub was so fascinated by the big male’s tail that he followed him around for quite some time before finally grabbing hold of it and biting down on it.”
“Male lions are often quite tolerant of cubs, but not always. This male lion just sighed and endured the nibbling and pulling.”
