This is the heartwarming moment of a polar bear mother and her cub playing in the snow for the first time. The pair stepped out into the snow after spending the last few months in the cave. Their beautiful fun moment was captured on camera!
Some lovely sightings at Novosibirsk Zoo, one of the largest zoos in Russia. After becoming a mother for the second time, Gerda and her lovely baby get the chance to enjoy the snow together for the first time. While the patient mother had spent many winters, for the cub was the first winter. Needless to say, it loves snow!
During the first few months after birth, polar bear cubs are so helpless that they completely rely on their mothers. After that, the mother and cubs don’t even leave the cave until the babies are strong enough. In this particular situation, the cub is a few months old, so everything allowed him and his mother to get some fresh air.
Although strong enough to play in the snow, the cub will still have to stay by his mother’s side for a few more months. The cub’s father, Kay, was not allowed near the baby nor the mother. However, his reactions can be quite unpredictable, so staff is not at risk.
Initially wary of seeing too much snow, the curious cub immediately began to explore the surroundings. Under the supervision of its mother, of course!
