There’s neigh way that’s possible! These cheeky squirrels have managed to display their prowess riding horses – although it might be a while before they move up a size.
The critters were snapped posing on the toy horses by Geert Weggen, 48, a photographer and builder from Bispgarden, Sweden.
The squirrels had been on their way to Geert’s garden from a nearby wood searching for food when they came across the conveniently placed toys, and it wasn’t long before they were horsing around.
Geert, who has spent years photographing squirrels, had intended to photograph them in similar postures as people and thought that sports would be an excellent theme.
In order to get the squirrels onto the horses in the first place, Geert placed food on them so that they would climb up on their horses.
“The squirrels looked to be competing in a horse race, which was quite amusing.
I had hidden food for the squirrels to climb on the horses and pretend to be humans – I like taking animals posing as humans, which is a fantastic method to recreate them.
“I have to wait days for one shot, and sometimes I must put the concept away and return later.
“It’s great to get a shot I had in mind, but squirrels do sometimes do something unpredictable, and I must shoot quickly.
“That may be a lot of fun, but it can also be aggravating. You get the feeling that the squirrels won’t cooperate and do their own thing at times.”
