When it comes to very quirky friendships, the animal kingdom never ceases to amaze us. Obviously, nothing seems too much in the wildlife world. So despite the heartwarming footage below, it seems too surprising to believe that this Alaskan woman has settled into the most astonishing sight. A bald eagle, a fox, and her two cats are gathering on her back porch.
When you live in the city of Unalaska in Alaska, both eagles and foxes are very common sights, but when you discover them sitting next to cats on your doorstep, that seems a bit exaggerating.
However, the kind of sight that Pam Aus had seen before, and not just once. Although Pam’s cats – Gizmo and Suitcase – are extremely friendly, she never thought they would make friends with wild foxes, let alone bald eagles.
It all started one snowy afternoon, when Pam was in her house, heard noises from the back porch, so she went to investigate. Surprisingly, her two cats were there, but not alone. It turns out they have some very unlikely visitors.
“I was in my room on the computer, and I heard an eagle chirping,” Pam explained. “I looked out the window and saw this. It’s normal for foxes to be friendly – so are eagles. But seeing all three of them there was exhilarating. They all just sat there.”
Since then, the quirky friends have constantly been visiting Pam, and the woman has been posting videos of their warm relationship on Youtube. In one of her videos, not one but at least two eagles can be seen visiting her cats.
But this happens quite naturally when you think that this place is famous for its huge eagle population. Although about 5,000 people live in Unalaska, the small harbour is home to nearly 600 bald eagles.
Pam said: “The eagle couple confessed to a lamppost across the street from my house. “They would come and sit on my porch. Or they’ll just sit there and watch my cats. ”
