A young antelope narrowly escaped being ki.ll.ed three times, after being pursued by a pack of wild dog, smelled out by a crocodile, and att.ac.ked by a hippopotamus.
The antelope and her herd were chased by a pack of hungry wild dogs, but they took refuge in a nearby watering hole for safety.
However, the antelopes were not alone, as a crocodile lurked beneath the waters waiting to at.ta.ck.
The antelope was about to face his worst nightmare when a hungry hippopotamus opened his mouth, ready to eat him.
After numerous attempts to at.ta.ck the antelope failed, the hippo gave it up, allowing the poor antelope to escape safely.
The photos were taken at Ngala Private Game reserve, South Africa, by Daryl Dell, a professional safari guide, after he went on a hunt to find a pack of wild dogs.
A hippopotamus lurched and attacked a waterbuck calf with aggression, probably because it was trespassing on its territory.
A group of hippopotamuses was already agitated by the playful and mischievous nature of the dogs, which had previously teased them, and one individual clearly was not amused.
It made its intentions clear by charging into the scene and scaring away the crocodile, and seeing the dogs slam on their breaks.
“There was a standoff between the waterbuck and the wild dogs, but eventually, the wild dogs moved away into the woodland and allowed the waterbuck to escape.”
