While communication skills are essential for wild animals, some species have turned their ability “to talk” to one another into an art. When it comes to that animals’ sounds, nothing can match the emblematic howl of a wolf. But what about the three gorgeous white wolves emitting a synchronized howl?!
In the kind of footage the animal kingdom can offer once-in-a-lifetime, a pack of arctic wolves was captured on camera with their incredibly impressive communication skills, and the moment is nothing short of amazing.
Filmed at Wolfspark Werner Freund – a wolf sanctuary in the city of Merzig, Germany, the short footage shows three beautiful arctic wolves lying in the snow when one suddenly howls. Then, in a perfectly synchronized act, the other two follow in an astonishing chorus.
“The video was shot in ‘Wolfspark Werner Freund’ where visitors can see different wolf packs (Arctic, European Grey, and Timber wolves) and listen to the packs’ howl in chorus,” the video caption reads.
Although wolves howl many times, they often howl to protect their territory. This type of howling can be initiated by any member of the pack, not just the alpha male.
It may have started from their initiative, or it can be a response to the pack howling in the vicinity. Each wolf has its distinctive howl, and surprisingly they recognize each other’s howls. The wolves howl mainly during the sunset!
