Playing in the sand, this baby elephant is clearly giving sun-loving tourists a run for their money as she frolics on the beach of a paradise island in Thailand.
Delighted holidaymakers have caught sight of Asian elephant calf pulling in swimwear model’s worthy poses – only without her trunks – as she basks in the sun after a soak at the Indian Ocean.
The baby elephant, named Lucky, was bathing in warm water when British tourist John Lindie, from Glasgow, caught her on camera.
Mr. Lindie, a marketing executive, had been staying on the island of Phuket with his wife Clare when the couple celebrated her 30th birthday.
He said: ‘Just outside the hotel grounds was the beach leading out to the Indian Ocean, and Lucky – the elephant’s name in the picture – was being taken down by her guardian for an early morning swim.
‘She lives in a nearby nature reserve with her parents and guardians who told us Lucky’s parents were rescued from a known po.a.ching area on the Thai mainland and taken to their new safe location.
‘The pictures were really coincidental. Lucky and her parents lived in a nearby nature reserve, and I happened to get up early one morning while Lucky was giving her a bath and I was “lucky” enough to capture her as she dried herself off playing in the sand, and she seemed very happy.
‘I had taken out my camera to try and take some pictures of the storm as it came and was very lucky to end up with some great pictures of Lucky, who seemed oblivious to the storm coming landing in the background.’
