A video of a newborn elephant playing with its trunk has gone viral.
Elephants are one of the most endearing creatures on earth, and the internet is rife with exciting videos featuring these magnificent giants. Sudha Ramen, an IFS officer in India, tweeted a video that depicted this.
The official shared a clip of a baby elephant playing with its trunk, and our hearts cannot handle all the cuteness.
She shared the clip with the caption, “This calf thinks the trunk is a toy! #Elephant calves do not know the use of the trunk until they reach 6 to 9 months. They slowly learn to use it from their mother and other adults in the herd (sic).”
The calf spins its trunk repeatedly as it stands beside a waterhole with the rest of the herd. The IFS officer claims that the calf believed its trunk was a toy.
Because baby elephants, for the most part, don’t understand the purpose of their trunks, they often play with them. They do so after they are six to nine months old when they begin learning about the uses from their mother and other herd members.
Without a doubt, the IFS officer’s video has already gone viral. It received over 12.2k views in the first few hours after being uploaded. Many netizens praised it as adorable in the comments section.
