There is nothing that children and animals enjoy more than getting a new toy. The joy of finding a new toy to play with is universal!
Playing with toys is a great way to help children develop, and it helps them develop skills that are valuable for life.
A little panda is no exception to this rule. He had a big green ball, and he loves it!
In an adorable video shot by the San Diego Zoo, it’s clear that he’s really having fun playing with it.
The baby panda, named Xiao Liwu, was given the ball as part of his 18th exam, it said in the YouTube video’s description.
“Panda keepers gave the cub a ball to test his coordination and encourage him to play with new objects,” the description reads.
He was only a few months old at that time.
The usual procedure for pandas is they give the cubs various objects to play with, encouraging them to interact and learn more about the world around them.
In this case, little Xiao Liwu was given two balls, some bamboo and a limb trimmed from a tree, according to a blog post by zookeepers.
Both the tree limb and bamboo were things that he had seen before, but the ball was something new. That’s where he devoted almost all of his attention.
In fact, at one point, his caregivers tried to get the green ball out of him, and he was so clingy, refusing to let it go.
It was the cutest little fury we’ve ever seen.
Whenever the ball bounced out of his grip, the caretakers would roll it back to him, and he would happily latch batch on.
This fascinating game kept Xiao entertained quite a bit during the check up.
Thanks to the green ball, the vets were able to complete their health checks easily. It turns out that, at that age, Xiao Liwu was already in great form. He weighed in at 14.5 pounds and is 29 inches long from head to tail.
Since filming this video, Xiao has grown into a fun and loving adult who is still very adorable.
