This is the moment a beluga whale was spotted teasing and befriending a seagull.
A beluga whale was spotted acting strangely when it decided to befriend a seagull.
The white beluga visited Norway’s Hammerfest coast.
Jan-Olaf Johansen, who works on a search and rescue ship, spotted the whale behaving unusually and decided to film it.
This behaviour is unusual for a whale of the same type.
Mr Johansen said he had seen many different species of whales while travelling around the world.
Even so, this particular sighting was described by him as an “extraordinary event.”
“I think everyone who saw the video thought it was fun but was also surprised that he was so gentle.”
“But what’s shown in the video is only half of the show between the two.”
“He swam after the seagull and blew bubbles to get attention and then took the water in his mouth and sprayed it on the gull. Never seen any similar behaviour.”
It was teasing the seagull and seemed to be trying to make friends.
