This striking bird is well worth your attention. The golden Browed Chlorophonia (Chlorophonia callophrys) is a small songbird in the Fringillidae family.
It has a beautiful mix of colorful feathers – yellow, green, blue, and purple.
These birds tend to live in southern Central America, stretching from Costa Rica to Panama.
The males are more prominent and brightly colored than the somewhat less distinctive females.
It has a soft whistling call.
In Costa Rica, they call this bird the Rualdo, and legend has it that the bird once had a beautiful voice but was dedicated to the Poás volcano to prevent a maiden from being sacrificed and prevent the volcano from being erupting.
This bird mainly eats feeds on fruit from trees, including figs and mistletoe berries.
