While enjoying the dramatic landscape of Patagonia, cruise ship tourists couldn’t believe in their eyes when they spotted a puma stranded on an iceberg. The never-before-seen scene was captured on camera by some boaters, and everyone is trying to find an explanation for the strange sight.
Although these land animals can often be spotted underwater, it is very rare to see them on an iceberg. Let alone a glacier a few miles away. Faced with the astonishing sight, the tourists took out their cell phones to capture the moment.
However, the question is how a puma that normally lives in the mountains ended up stranded on an iceberg. Park rangers explained that pumas are excellent swimmers, so it’s possible that this one decided to rest on the ice.
“The animal came up alone, certainly to rest as it crossed the water,” explained a local ranger. There is a record of pumas swimming across swathes of Lake Argentino, where depths can exceed 260 feet. [On the other hand] the glacier moves mainly by the wind, so as long as the puma is at the top of the iceberg, it will be safe, and the wind will help it get closer to the coast. ”
