He isn’t wearing a cape, but this brave boy was hailed as a hero after his incredible gesture saved a poor creature’s life.
Without thinking, the boy, named Belal and believed to be in his early teens, put his life on the line to rescue a fawn from drowning.
During the rainy season, floods are common in Bangladesh and extremely dangerous for both humans and wildlife.
A tiny baby deer was separated from its family after a torrential downpour led to rapid river flooding in Noakhali, Bangladesh. Fortunately for one child, the young boy found out when the tiny creature was swept away by strong water. He immediately jumped in and desperately tried to save the deer.
In the end, his brave, fearless gesture paid off when they both reached the river safely. A photographer witnessed the touching rescue and captured it on camera. And the powerful images speak for themselves.
Photographer Hasibul Wahab said he and others who witnessed the scene couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the brave boy. However, he said there were times when they feared for his life.
“He was such a brave boy – the river was full of water, and the tides were high so we thought he might drown,” Wahab said. “My friend was even ready to jump into the river to save the boy.
But he made it, and when he came back, we thanked the boy. Only five to seven people observed the situation, but it was an extraordinary sight.”
