This is the story of a feral cat who surprised everyone by becoming BFFs with a black bear.
One day, a stray cat shows up at Folsom City’s zoo and animal sanctuary, as he chooses to make himself comfortable in the bear’s enclosure.
To everyone’s surprise, the cat was not afraid of anything and was eating the food that was given to the bears.
“Once she started coming here regularly, we also started bringing her food in the morning,” senior keeper Jill Faust said.
After a while, he was given the name “Little Bear” because he was the same color as the bears and spent most of his time with them.
“Often when Sequoia (the bear) walks through the ‘bear forest,’ his feline friend will walk with him,” the zoo said, via a statement.
“She rubs against the walls, and visitors can hear raspy purr from quite a distance.”
Some visitors expressed their anxiety about the friendship, “I thought he was going to be eaten by a bear,” said one boy.
The couple goes for walks together and stays together; although they do not play physical games, their friendship is very obvious.
The pair have been hanging out together for a few months without any problems, suggesting that perhaps they really enjoy the company of each other.
