These brilliant images show how a bull elephant raises itself on its hind legs so that it is tall enough to reach some food that only a giraffe could get.
Taken by Duncan Taylor while he was on vacation with his family in Kruger National Park, South Africa, the photos reflect the agility of these majestic animals, despite their size.
This behavior is normally only seen by elephants in circuses, and is highly unusual when spotted in the wild.
Duncan, 48, said: ‘We were standing in the campgrounds, and a wild elephant went up to the waterhole to get a drink of water.
“It first walked over to the tree, lifted the trunk to smell it, and then positioned itself under the branches.
“It then raised itself until it stood on its hind legs and stretched as far as it could with the trunk to pull down some food to eat and then gently lowered itself to the ground.
“I feel very honored to witness this event.
“It’s not every day you see this in the wild from an untrained animal in a circus, and it just shows how precise they can be in choosing what they want to eat.”
