This incredible video captures the moment when a vehicle gets into a charging match with an elephant.
On Monday, driver Paisarn Chansiri, 37, spotted a male jumbo elephant in the road as he drove around a bend in Nakhon Nayok, central Thailand.
Feeling threatened by the oncoming car, the elephant charged towards it.
The car swiftly reverses down the road, retreating from the elephant’s territory in a flawless response.
The elephant disappears into the jungle after feeling satisfied that the car has backed off.
After the elephant has left, Mr. Sorncharoen calmly goes on his way.
The incident happened in Nakhon Nayok, a tiny province northeast of Bangkok, roughly a third of it is covered by the Khao Yai National Park.
The park covers 2,168 square meters and is home to various national wildlife, including bears, macaques, and 300 elephants.
Signs warning motorists of wild animals on the road may be seen around the park’s boundaries, but in November, a speeding driver hit an elephant before being trampled to d.e.ath by it.
Drivers are advised to stay at least 30 meters away from the animals and keep their motors running to retreat.
