Martin Glatz from the Netherlands was fishing with his twin brother when he caught the most unique fish he had ever seen.
He and his brother are professional anglers who have caught many catfish in their lives, but never one like this bright yellow fish.
At first, he panicked, “I’ve never seen such a catfish before. I’m still overwhelmed by it.”
Of course, he threw it into the water after taking a picture while holding it.
Catfish is quite common, but it has a banana yellow colour makes it extremely rare.
Its coloration may be due to a rare inherited skin disorder called Leucism, which resembles albinism but is not so serious.
The fish’s pigmentation was significantly reduced everywhere, except for the eyes.
This genetic disorder that causes yellowing has been observed in many marine animals such as penguins, turtles, etc.
While it seems interesting to us, leucism poses a problem for these animals in the wild because it reduces the animals’ natural camouflage.
This catfish has avoided predators long enough for it to grow to a gigantic size.
