A baby elephant slid around in a mud pool after attempting to chase a passing warthog, which was undoubtedly the highlight of the day for this poor bull.
The footage taken by Ewan Wilson at the Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, showed the mischievous calf splashing around in the pool with his family.
The youngster observed the warthog rushing over the pool’s edge.
The calf then made a daring advance, approaching the warthog and placing its feet on the muddy ground as the creature stopped ahead of it.
The tiny animal backed away from a larger elephant for a few seconds before leaping forward and stumbling on the ground beneath it.
‘That’s extremely brave,’ said a man, who was hidden behind the camera. He tried to charge, but he slipped in the mud.
The warthog fled as soon as it saw the elephant approaching, but the calf recovered quickly from its near-fall and charged forward once more.
The tiny elephant recognized that it had to wait for a long time, so the adolescent made its way back up the muddy road to its parents on the other side.
A woman said: ‘Run back to mum, quickly!’
As the video ended, a more giant elephant had stepped between the youngster and the area where the warthog had been.
