In this video, a huge elephant falls asleep to the sound of a woman singing at an animal sanctuary and rescue center in Thailand.
The video shows the animal on her feet, taken by a staff of the Elephant Nature Park, located in the Mae Taeng District of Chiang Mai Province.
According to the sanctuary, the elephant is known as Faamai; it has a somewhat friendly relationship with Lek and has been assisting her in falling asleep for years.
In the video, Lek begins softly crooning as she approaches the animal, pulling her in for a hug with the long trunk.
The woman sings as she is walking around the mammal, batting away insects from her eyes with a piece of fabric.
The elephant lowers herself to her knees before collapsing on the ground, feeling drowsy.
She looks content with her location and lowers her head before shutting her eyes and listening to the faint and lovely lullaby.
She continues to soothe the animal, both with her voice and with the motion of the cloth against her skin.
After a while, the animal begins to count sheep and cutely curls her trunk up before sleeping.
Lek rests near the animal and leans against her, expressing the incredible connection between them.
Faamai’s trunk is stroked again and again as she continues to sing, even after Faamai has fallen asleep. Another little elephant approaches and listens to her softly song.
The video has already been viewed more than 100,000 times since it was available on the internet, and predictably, there have been a lot of reactions.
One viewer said: ‘How gorgeous the bond is between them. I wish all humans treated animals with respect like this.’
While another simply wrote: ‘This cheered me up, thanks for sharing.’
