A photographer has captured the hilarious sequence showing a mother elephant soil on her following baby.
Mr. Glaser, 57, was visiting Kruger Park in South Africa when he saw a newborn elephant trailing after its mother.
However, as he began capturing the lovely moment, the mother elephant started to defecate.
The mother was unaware that she was discharging her infant’s head.
‘This tiny herd of elephants walked across the road in front of our vehicle, with the adults leading and the infants following a few meters behind their moms,’ recounted Ivan.
I witnessed one of the moms lift her tail, and I was certain what was about to happen. And it did!
It was hilarious, especially because the infant didn’t even try to get out of the way after the first bomb hit.
I discovered later that this is common elephant behavior, and that baby elephants consume the dung of their elders because it contains germs that the baby’s stomachs do not yet have.
‘I’ve always been a big fan of elephants. They are truly magnificent creatures.’
‘It’s an exciting moment when you’re driving through a game park and come upon a herd of elephants near to the road, especially if they have youngsters. It’s even more thrilling when you’re in Africa.’
