This is the hilarious moment an elephant got stuck as it tried to climb over a fence after looting crops in India.
The animal was captured on camera at Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka, southwestern India.
The video shows the elephant initially balancing with one leg on the strut of the metal fence as it scans over to the other side.
It then got its front legs over the fence but stuck with its rump significantly and its hind legs in the air, pointing towards the camera.
The elephant struggled for a moment before figuring out how to use its hind legs to push its weight over the fence.
The mammoth pushed itself up in one attempt, “kneeling” briefly on the top rung, before finally reaching the other side safely.
The video was shared on Twitter by Supriya Sahu, who captioned it as ‘Speechless.’
The clip has been viewed more than 248,000 times and has been liked by nearly 20,000 people.
One commented: ‘I watched videos of these gentle giants crossing the flimsy bamboo fence when they could easily walk through it.’
Another said: ‘Traffic violation, 500 rupees fine for that elephant.’
Mahesh Kumar, the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve director, told the Indian Express that the video was recorded in the Veeranahosalli range in the morning.
He said the animal was returning to the forest after clearing crops.
And it’s not the first elephant to have trouble climbing over the fence.
A clumsy calf got its hind leg stuck in the air through a wooden fence at a sanctuary in Thailand on May 2.
The clip, shot in Chiang Mai, captured the adventurous animal balancing its front legs with its hind legs swinging over a sturdy fence.
The youngster, named Khunseuk, struggled to get out of his precarious position when an elderly elephant watched from inside the pen.
