A photographer was surprised when this 40-ton humpback whale breached just in front of his tiny boat.
Craig Parry was over the moon when the enormous whale jumped out of the water and greeted him during a boat trip in Byron Bay, Australia.
“It was late afternoon, and the sun was just about to set,” said the professional nature photographer from Byron Bay.
“That was one of the first humpback sightings this season, so it was an extraordinary encounter for me.”
“The breach occurred only 20 meters from my boat, and the noise was incredible.”
“It made my boat look small as these animals weigh over 40 tonnes and are over 40 feet in length”.
“It was a really awesome moment to be so close to one of these massive creatures.”
