This is the moment the world’s largest sea turtle emerges from the water on the beach.
It was a majestic leatherback turtle, and it appeared to have come out of the water to rest on the sand.
The leatherback turtle is the largest species of tortoise in the world. Unlike most turtles, they do not have a hard shell, instead, their back is covered with thick, leathery skin, hence the name.
Leatherback turtles like to travel the world alone and only meet with other turtles when they breed. Like other turtles, they lay their eggs on the beach and let the baby turtles find their way out to sea.
They are specially designed to withstand colder seas so they can dive deep for their favorite snack, jellyfish!
The leatherbacks from fins turtles can grow up to 9 feet taller than any other sea turtle, that’s amazing!
