He may be the King of the Jungle, but a lion was left in no doubt as to who’s boss is after receiving ears from a ferocious lioness.
The rare moment caught on camera shows the angry lioness roaring at the lion’s face as it happily cowered and covered his face with his paws.
The intense lovers’ tiff took place in Central Serengeti, Tanzania, and was discovered by wildlife photographer George Hart on his first African safari.
The 58-year-old from Toronto, Canada, said: ‘They were definitely having a go at each other.
“Obviously she was responding to him. Whether it was in anger or passion is the question.
“They were a mating pair and had just finished mating when we pulled up to take some pictures.
‘I recall feeling quite happy when I caught the male roaring and was about to put down the camera when the female responded.
‘I was fortunate to catch that last frame.
“The images never cease to be amusing; they are easily anthropomorphized and resonate immediately with anyone I show them to.”
