The term ‘big cat’ has just been revamped thanks to the arrival of this giant cat. Everyone meets Apollo, a lion-tiger hybrid that has just won the title of ‘world’s largest cat.’

This gentle giant is a liger – a cross between a male lion and a tigress. Apollo recently shot to fame after walking with Mike Holston and wildlife conservationist Kody Antle in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The footage was uploaded to more on YouTube and immediately went viral.

“This big guy’s name is Apollo, and he’s the biggest cat on the planet. Now the question is, what is this going to eat? I believe it will eat everything in sight, anything in sight,” Mike said.

I think a pack of these would take down a regular herd of elephants for a snack. Such a majestic beast and it can get up to 40 miles an hour in a couple of steps,” the ex-football star added.

Mike also added that the liger’s teeth are about the size of his middle finger, its tongue is the size of his forearm, and its lung is probably as big as his torso. As for the neck, it is too big for either of the men to wrap their arms around, Scoop Whoop reported.

Ligers could grow up to 12 feet long and weigh up to 795 lbs, twice that of a lion or tiger. People are comparing Apollo to the prehistorical saber-toothed tiger, which went extinct 42,000 years ago.
