Nick Dale, 51, from Oldham, London, was visiting Serengeti National Park, Tanzania when he captured the lovely series of photos.
The images show the lioness lying on the grass while eight cubs jump on top of one another.
Nick, also a private tutor and landlord, said: “The cubs were so cute and happy to take pictures of them playing together, but the problem was the light was quickly fading.
“But this set is a result anyway!
“There were two lionesses, four cubs each, and they were all born a day apart, so their mothers took turns taking care of them.
“They were usually found in swamps, and we usually go there in the early evening, just before sunset.
“This set of photos mainly focuses on a lioness when she is piled on by her cubs.
“I have photographed a lot of different subjects, but now I focus entirely on wildlife photography.”
