What a beautiful sight! This mother duck has been caught shepherding her flock of newborns across the water by allowing them to cling to her back.
A mother duck was seen in Queen’s Park Heywood lands, escorting her young away as other nearby swans chased away the other ducks.
Those who were unable to follow their mother’s slipstream rushed immediately behind her, attempting to keep up with her.
The image was captured by Mark Chrimes, 49, from Rochdale.
“When I started keeping track of how many ducklings were riding on their mums’ backs, I was amazed at how high it was.”
“When I first saw them, some of the other ducks were being chased away by the swans on the water.”
“Usually, as soon as you raise your camera to take a picture with the ducks, they move away, so it was wonderful to be able to capture this moment on the pond.”
