A 19-year-old mare beat all odds after she gave birth to her second set of twins, 18 months after her first twins were born.
For a horse to be an extremely rare phenomenon giving birth to twins in her lifetime, let alone twice in a row. But Destiny defied the one in a million odds, surprising everyone, even her owner.
Tania MacKee, owner of Gassons Farm Stud, in Exeter, UK, was surprised when Destiny gave birth to twins in 2018. So you can imagine how she must have felt as the mare gave birth to another set of twins 18 months later, noting that throughout the pregnancy, scans showed only one baby.
Although the first pair of ponies are identical, this time the two have a few differences, but they are equally adorable.
Taking Facebook, the proud horse breeder, who shared the incredible news with the world!
“Our wonderful mare Destiny has made the perfect pair of foals – again!!” the post read. “Both Destiny and her two foals are on their feet, and all three are enjoying their quickly earned food, the two cubs zooming around the barn and exploring their surroundings…only discovered a single fetus. At no stage during her pregnancy was there any doubt that something was amiss.”
Thankfully, both ponies are in very good shape, and that can only make Tania feel relieved and grateful. However, she is still trying to find an explanation for the extremely rare event.
“It’s surprising. I’ve been breeding for years, and I’ve never heard of something like this before,” she said. They are healthy, strong foals. They are very resilient.”
The adorable twins, currently unnamed, are living on the farm with their older brothers Shockwave and Masta Blasta.
