An adorable photo showing Doodlebug, an orphaned kangaroo holding a teddy bear it received from its caring mother.
The heartwarming image posted by Tim Beshara on Twitter has gone viral around the world.
“I thought it would be shared in Australia but I was shocked to see this image reaching as far as Brazil and Russia. I’ve even had American morning shows using it on the air. ”
The photo was taken at wildlife caretaker Doodlebugs’ estate in New South Wales, where she noticed that the orphaned animals responded well to teddy bears.
“They seem to react to the toy like a toddler. They see it as a companion.”
Tim Beshara and his mother Gillian have been taking care of Doodlebug since he was abandoned as a baby; talking about this, she said:
“He may have fallen out of his mother’s pouch, or his mother may have died. He was a few months old when he was transferred to my mother’s company, WIRES. ”
The baby kangaroo had fully recovered from the bad state when he was adopted and is now back in the wild.
“She has nursed it back to health, and it is now hopping around in the woods and coming back occasionally to feed or cuddle, as the pictures show.”
