Just like humans, animals have feelings too – there’s no doubt of it. Especially when it comes to those who care for them, or more, to those who have saved their lives, and this cute baby rhino is no different.

Kabelo was just a few months old when he lost his mother to poaching. Thankfully, he was rescued in time and taken to the Rhino Orphanage in South Africa.

Scared and confused, the little calf thought he had no one to comfort him anymore, but fortunately, he met Laura Ellison, a veterinary nurse at the orphanage.

The woman fell in love with the baby rhino from the first moment she saw him. She gives him the love and comfort he needs after losing his biological mother. In return, the cute calf can’t stop hugging his adoptive mother.

“I have been with Kabelo since he came to the orphanage, and we have developed such a strong relationship,” the nurse wrote in a social media post. “While Kabelo is very comfortable with me, he is not with many others.”

Despite caring for dozens of orphaned rhinos, Laura says Kabelo is different, and the bond that binds them is special. Although the child is still a wild animal, she said he has “the ability to love so forgivingly.”

And even after “humans took his mother and let him trust me the way he does is bittersweet. Rhinos deserve to live with their mothers without human intervention.”

When he is old enough, Kabelo will return to the wilderness, but he enjoys every moment with his adoptive mother until there.

“His ability to love and the pure tenderness of that love will always captivate me,” the kind woman also wrote.
