It looks like this tabby cat is far from coming home. Hugging a lion, stalking a zebra, and tormenting an elephant by pouncing on its tail is different from a.tt.acking the rats in the backyard.
Every cat owner knows the pet will do whatever it wants, so it may not come as a surprise to see a fearlessly domestic cat roaming around the game reserve and not daring to approach big predators.
But if you think the friendly cat was in danger from bigger cats, think again. The playful shots were the work of photographer George Logan and digital retoucher Tony Swinney for a Whiskas advertising campaign.
The wildlife photos were taken at Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa and the cat was added later for its own safety.
Whiskas’ campaign, called Big Cat, Small Cat, urges owners to feed their pet’s instincts with its food.
Domestic cats share predatory behavior in their larger relationships, from foraging to playing with their prey.
The stunning images show that, despite the huge difference in size, the lions, leopards, and cats are not too different at all and the family bond is strong.
The Shamwari Game Reserve, opened in 1992, is near Port Elizabeth and is supported by the Born Free Foundation, which advocates for animal welfare and helped Whiskas take pictures.
