One day, two officers from Boulder, Colorado, were driving along a dirt road when they saw a small animal in the middle of the road.
When they got closer, they saw that it was an adorable baby Northern Saw-Wher owl.
It was clear that the owl was lost, standing in the middle of the road in danger, so the polices came to help.
When one of the deputies approached the owl, she said, “Hey, what’s up?”
The little owl seemed to respond to her that was talking to it; she started to turn her head, causing the officer to start laughing.
So again, she said “hello,” and this time. The owl opened its eyes wide, looking as if it were listening intently.
At this point, the officer stopped filming, both tried to chase the owl out of the way, managed without any problems, the owl flew away.
“As a small owl with a cat-like face, oversized head and brilliant yellow eyes, the Northern Saw-whet Owl is practically bursting with attitude. It has very sophisticated hearing due to its vertically asymmetrical ears and different ear shapes,” they wrote.
“These Owls mainly hunt at dusk and dawn and most often use a ‘sit and wait’ tactic to drop down onto prey on the ground from low-hunting perches. Maybe this little guy is setting a trap.”
Here’s a close-up video of the owl:
