This game drive guide was filmed to give a lesson in wild elephant manners that no one watching will ever forget.
He was filmed showing nerves of steel, remaining stock still when a large adult elephant examined him with its trunk as he sat on an observation chair in front of an off-road vehicle.
The video was shot by one of the tourists watching in silence behind.
The 3-minute clip was recorded by a guest at the Toro Yaka Bush Lodge in Kruger Park, South Africa, with the camera focusing on a group of three elephants who are grazing.
At the beginning of the clip, the first of the trio crosses the street, but when the second appears, it’s distracted by the convertible truck full of tourists.
Changing its route, the giant creature approached the vehicle – and the tour guide sat at the front.
Stopping in front of the truck, the elephant started touching the guide with its trunk, at one point the mammal even pushed the man’s leg.
The guide, who didn’t flinch in the encounter, watched the wild creature raise its trunk above the man’s head and stare at him.
Turning its attention to the tourists, the Great African Bush Elephant approached the truck and rests its tusk on the guide’s legs.
Touching the car bonnet, the creature reaches out to the camera with the trunk and guests can be heard exclaiming ‘oh my god’ to one another.
The video, uploaded to YouTube, ended with the mammal breaking through some bushes beside the vehicle and making its way to join its waiting herd.
