This king of the jungle proved he was king of the road too – blocking the path of a group of stunned tourists by lying in their way.
When traveling deep in the Kruger National Park, South Africa, retired bank executive Geoffrey Veenendaal, 68, was delighted to capture a wild lion pride as they disrupted his journey.
According to amateur photographer Geoffrey from Cape Town, the pack of five big cats emerged from the vegetation before resting in the middle of the roadway, where lionesses and their cubs joined them.
According to the wildlife enthusiast, it was the first time he had witnessed such a large number of wild creatures at once.
“We were the second car at the sighting when we noticed approximately five lions on the road,” he continued.
“The lionesses and cubs continued to walk out of the scrubland and into the road.”
“I was astonished. “The lions appeared on the road and vanished just as quickly. The five lionesses were accompanied by at least 20 cubs.”
