These magnificent giraffes grazing framed the beautiful African sunset in front of a breathtaking Kenyan landscape.
On a trip to Tanzania, Swedish photographer and nature filmmaker Jonas Stenqvist from Stockholm captured the moment as a simple yet beautiful instant in time.
The landscape is dotted with wildebeest, zebra, and other animals in this photo of Jonas taken at sunset. The brilliant skyline backdrop makes for a wonderful scene in a Lion King film with colorful herds of zebra and wildebeest against a dramatic backdrop.
“You just have to be in the right place at the right time to capture decent silhouette photos like these; it all comes down to pure luck,” said Jonas.
However, having a knowledgeable guide and driver who understands where to drive and how to position your car makes a significant difference.
“When I’m in the right location, my main goal is composition, and here I don’t follow any hard and fast guidelines, instead just doing whatever feels best for me. ”
“The photo with the giraffe craning its neck while reaching for a tree is my personal favorite.
“The silhouette is unquestionably a giraffe, but I appreciate the stance and how everything comes together with the acacia tree and the colors from the setting sun.
It’s always an exciting adventure to go on a safari without knowing whether you’ll see anything or not and then suddenly encounter something out of the ordinary and unique.
“Combining that with the chance actually to capture that moment in time with your camera and then share it with others after makes photography an addictive hobby.”
