Penguins march majestically on the beach before heading out for a morning swim.
Wim van den Heever, 45, a wildlife photographer, traveled to the Falkland Islands this year to photograph and assess the region for future excursions.
WIM’s stunning pictures show a small flock of king penguins as they depart on their morning journey in the sunrise.
“The sunrise resulted in lovely vivid colors and stunning reflections,” Wim added.
I love the photos because they inspire me to respect these king penguins and the isolated Falkland Islands.
“I was shooting this sight while lying flat in the water early in the morning. I was completely drenched with ice seawater from head to toe and had no feeling in my hands or feet after 15 minutes.
“My unique clothing was being completely trashed by the saltwater – not the most pleasant experience of my life.
“I kept staring at the photographs on the back of the camera, and it was enough to keep me going.”
