Meet J50, a six-month-old orca whose energy and enthusiasm are unmatched in the marine world.
It’s hard to think that any other sea animal can be as happy as she is, earning her the title of ‘Happiest baby Orca on earth.’
Since her birth, the young whale has been regularly spotted breaching and frolicking in the Salish Sea, BC, in Canada.
These stunning photos were taken of the J50 by Salish Sea wildlife photographer Clint Rivers.
This energetic orca calf seems to think it can fly, or maybe it’s trying really hard to be a dancer, although it’s more likely just enjoying its freedom in the sea.
Michael Harris is the CEO of PWWA; he spoke about ‘the world’s happiest baby Orca’:
“Her energy is amazing –- I guess no different than my little kids. She is constantly jumping in the air and often curls up and does belly flops… Do what baby orcas do,”
The birth of J50 was a cause for celebration for conservationists as there hadn’t been a successful birth in her community for nearly three years.
