Footage of the adorable moment a baby elephant refused to cross a stream has surfaced online.
Video uploaded to YouTube shows the small creature slithering to a halt in shallow water in Tanzania, Africa, while walking with its herd.
The group ran along the gurgling stream, but the smallest person in the group couldn’t figure it out.
At the beginning of the clip, a herd can be seen walking down a dirt road in front of the amazed cars of tourists.
After most of the group cleared the stream, the calf could be seen standing next to its mother as it hesitantly touched the surface of the water.
Hiding behind the larger mammal’s legs, the baby elephant touches the water with its trunk before slithering down the small bank.
At one point in the three-minute clip posted by online user Elina Silina, the mother elephant begins to push her calf into the stream with her trunk.
At the end of the shot, the small mammal mimics Disney’s Bambi as it lies face down in the water after losing its footing.
The cameraman will then take a moment to adjust to her position from inside her hunting vehicle as she refocuses the elephant that has crossed the stream.
The missed moment has left YouTube users questioning how tourists had missed the ‘best bit.’
One wrote: ‘She totally missed the moment of finally crossing!’
And another said: ‘You watch for a few minutes, only to be shown inside a car right when the elephant is crossing.’
The video ends with a mother and baby walking across the trail to join the rest of the herd.
