Waking someone up from a nap is not the most common decision. However, this male lion thought to try it. But all he got was to learn his lesson the hard way!
In an odd rare shot, a majestic lion is quietly approaching a sleeping female to wake her up romantically (at least that’s what he thought). However, things quickly turned into a nightmare, not for the lioness but for the male himself. Safari guide Joshua Loonkushu witnessed the hilarious moment and captured it on camera.
Lions do their best to remain unnoticed when they quietly approach their cubs. Once he gets close enough to her, he bites her – a decision he instantly regrets. Immediately after that, the lioness angrily stood up, and she began to use her feet to swipe at the lion with her pointed tips.
“I couldn’t imagine that the male lion would behave like this,” said the 32-year-old guide. “He got up and continued to crawl towards the lioness, almost stalking. He did his best to stay as quiet as possible.
“When he got to the lioness, he bit her! It took the lioness exactly two seconds to go from deep sleep to defensive mode. In my 8 years of tutorials, this is the first time seeing this kind of thing! I have never seen anything like this. ”
Although the male’s gesture was very impolite, everything returned to normal between the two lovers after a while. They both regained their pride, where they were seen cuddling each other. “Shortly after this scuffle, the rest of the pride joined the two, hugging them as if they were asking what was wrong,” Loonkushu revealed.
