The animal kingdom is usually colorful, but sometimes less is more if you want to stand out from the crowd.
All-white creatures – many of which are albino – are often considered lucky in some cultures. Sadly for the animals themselves, the opposite is true.
The genetic mutation means they don’t make melanin, resulting in no or little color skin and hair and making them an obvious target for predators.
The albino animals here make for a fascinating sight from lemurs to peacocks. The strangest one is the elephant, whose color is white clay that dried after bathing in a waterhole.
