A little foal and a big stuffed bear have the most adorable relationship! A little foal and a big stuffed bear have the sweetest relationship!
The name Breeze comes from the wind that blows through Dartmoor Hill’s grass. He was abandoned by his mother soon after he was born.
A farmer discovered him, then the Mare and Foal Sanctuary in Devon, UK, was alerted to his presence. By the time the rescue crew reached the location, the newborn foal was in a bad way. He was bewildered, dehydrated, and everyone anticipated the worst.
However, once they brought him to the sanctuary, things began to look up as the little one appeared to find what he needed. It didn’t come from an adoptive mother or Sanctuary staff, but rather a massive teddy bear that his guardians presented him with.
“Sadly, Breeze was not with his mother to keep him company.” Syra Bowden, the sanctuary’s executive director, added. “It’s been great to observe him playing with his new teddies and snuggling up to them as he goes to sleep. They provide comfort for him during the times when his caregivers are not around.
Apparently, the sanctuary delivers stuffed toys to orphaned animals regularly. “We always give our orphaned foals a big cuddly toy as a pal,” Bowden added. They’re similar to human babies because it gives them comfort. A method that seems to be quite successful!
After a few critical weeks, when he received a unique milk formula and appropriate treatment, he’s now feeling quite good.
And his teddy bear friend is responsible for that, too. “He’s getting bigger and stronger every day,” Bowden continued. “He just started going out into the field to play; he isn’t afraid.
