This adorable baby elephant was born three months premature, but she is not letting that stop her now.
A fantastic video captures the tiny calf making her first public appearance after two months of privacy.
When the Asian elephant appeared with her family at Singapore’s Night Safari, animal lovers were graced with a spectacular sight.
The baby appears a bit camera shy at first, and she hangs around with her mother, Sri Nandong, her aunts Jamilah and Tun.
The calf, still too young to eat solid foods, struts between her family members as the grownups tuck into a banana treat.
Occasionally, she takes a break between the legs of one of her relatives, who is careful to shift position as needed so as not to crush the youngster.
When aunt Tun took a sand bath, her young niece sat beside her ecstatic to participate.
Keepers claim that the calf is most content when playing with water and splashing her family.
‘The aunty goes about giving her assistance, teaching her how to use the trunk and play,’ said Novendran Suppiah, the park’s elephant expert.
‘Asian elephants are endangered with only 40,000 estimated to be left in the wild, and it was the first time in six years that a baby Asian elephant has been born at Night Safari,’ according to WNEP.
‘This makes her even more precious to us,’ stated a park spokesperson.
