In a scene that seems too hard to believe to be true, a giant black bear leisurely walks into a California police station, like he owns the place. The moment was captured by surveillance cameras and it’s definitely something you won’t see every day!
It was just an ordinary day at the office for officers at the California Highway Patrol department near Lake Tahoe when they found themselves in situations they never expected. While they are used with everyone to cross their door’s step, they were all incredible to wake up with a bear in the room.
After accidentally opening the door, the short clip shows the giant bear entering the facility on its hind legs. For a few moments, the unlikely guest was staring at two vending machines by the front door, and then he continued to investigate through the office.
But the tough bear got out of the building as quickly as he entered it. Seconds after he was caught on camera while venturing in, the monster found its way out as two officers chased him. He then got lost in the parking lot before going into the woods. Fortunately, no one was harmed by the incident. Even more, the officers actually made fun of the situation.
“We always encourage visitors to stop by and say hi,” joked the California Highway Patrol. “Our officers aren’t easily frightened.”
The bear population in California has grown rapidly over the past two decades, reaching about 40,000 individuals, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife reported. Officials are also raising awareness for the public population to be alert and vigilant when spotting a bear.
“In these cases, bears are no longer cautious and fearful of those around people,” the officials said. “This can lead to property damage and even threaten human safety.”
