One day, Zhenya was browsing the internet when she came across a picture of a wild sable and immediately fell in love.
With its silky soft fur, the sable was one of the most sought after and expensive species in the world, the next to be ki.ll.ed on a fur farm in Russia.
Zhenya set out to rescue the beautiful creature; she said:
“Finally, I learned that there was an opportunity to buy her from a fur farm. She might have d.ie.d there, so I decided to save her. ”
She named her Sabel Umora, and it didn’t take long before the pair became close and started living life to the fullest.
“Umora has a tough personality. Living on a fur farm hurts her, so she’s pretty emotional, even a little hysterical sometimes.”
“Umora is also a really playful pet – she is cheeky and loves to steal stuff. She is also very active and intelligent. ”
Zhenya worked hard to keep her exotic pet and would even advise against keeping them as pets.
“One has to go through a lot before they can start living with it comfortably,” she said.
“It requires a lot of time and patience. It may even take a few years for you to start fully enjoying your life with it. ”
Sables are not usually kept as pets and are commonly found in burrows and riverbanks in wooded areas.
They are usually foraging in the twilight hours, although they can be seen during the day during their breeding season.
